Urban Dove Day
Saturday, June 16th

The Urban Dove is an afterschool program that focuses on energizing, empowering, educating inner-city youth through basketball. Lela Goren is the girls' team coach of the "Travelling All-Stars," who will be visiting a Sioux Reservation in Pine Ridge, South Dakota in July for a week of basketball and cultural programs. In the Fall, the Urban Dove will host the American Indian team here in New York City.

This afternoon we hosted the girls' and boys' teams for a look at some footage from an upcoming documentary about the "Travelling All-Stars," program, by Sandya Viswanathan. Also served was pizza and "Love & Basketball."

A fundraiser with all the kids and those involved will be hosted at the Soho Salon in September. Email Lela for more information.
